Common questions
A little clarity.
Before we begin.
Practical answers about care, online visits, and getting started with thoughtscape NP Psychiatry.
Getting started
Do I need to know what kind of appointment I need?
No. The free 15-minute introductory consultation gives you space to ask about the practice and whether it may be a fit. It is not a diagnostic evaluation or medication visit.
What happens in an initial evaluation?
The initial psychiatric evaluation is 60 minutes. We discuss your concerns, history, previous treatment, and goals, and talk through next steps together.
Who does thoughtscape NP Psychiatry work with?
thoughtscape NP Psychiatry is an adults-only, online practice for people in New York. An assessment helps determine whether your needs fit the practice. Treatment is not offered here for substance use disorders, eating disorders, psychosis, narcolepsy, or autism.
Care & visits
What services are offered?
Psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy. Medication follow-ups are 20 minutes; psychotherapy visits are 40 or 60 minutes.
Will every appointment lead to a prescription?
Medication is one possible part of care. We discuss your concerns, treatment options, and preferences; a consultation or evaluation does not guarantee a prescription.
Can I discuss concerns about medication?
Yes. Questions about medication, benefits, side effects, and your preferences belong in the conversation. Decisions are made together, and follow-up makes room to revisit the plan.
How should I prepare for an online visit?
Choose a private place in New York, check your connection and audio, and keep your medication list and questions nearby. The first-visit guide walks through what to bring.
Cost & booking
Do you take my insurance?
Participating insurance plans are still being finalized. Headway and Alma are planned routes. Your exact plan, clinician, and visit type must be checked before scheduling.
What are the self-pay fees?
The initial evaluation is $300 for 60 minutes. Medication follow-ups are $175 for 20 minutes. Psychotherapy is $175 for 40 minutes or $200 for 60 minutes. The 15-minute introductory consultation is free. Appointment lengths are listed on the fees page.
Will there be a sliding scale?
I offer 20 reduced-fee spots in my practice. Fees are agreed before care begins and depend on availability. See the sliding-scale ranges and contact the practice to discuss your circumstances.
How do I book or change an appointment?
Choose your visit on the appointments page to view its Google booking calendar. Use the instructions in your booking confirmation for changes, or contact the practice if you need help. Before booking with insurance, confirm participation and benefits.
